Our partners
Our goal is to work in coordination with other community
service groups here in town. So far our work has brought us into
partnership with the following:
• Public spirited residents and visitors have
provided all of the computers now in place. The need is so great that we will
begin to purchase computers from non profit organizations. We have received unsolicited
funds from these folks as well. This support has made all the difference.
• The
Michael Wein Foundation provided early "seed money" for our
little project. The Foundation has continued to provide funding and encouragement.
• Universidad Tecnológico del Norte Guanajuato helps
CPJ by making minor repairs and modifications to donated computers. In turn,
the professors at UTNG appreciate having a supply of computers to help train
their computer lab students.
• Rotary International through its two
local clubs has solicited financing from Rotary Clubs in the United States and
in Canada. The volunteers and logistic support they provide has proven vital
to our work.
• The World Computer Exchange (WCE) provides
computers and support services in education, environment, and economic development
world wide. They help us when our supply of donated computers runs low while
our demand continues to grow. They have a presence in 63 developing countries
and we are pleased to partner with them here in Mexico.
Our
partners help us serve these groups
• Public schools: With over 400
schools in San Miguel alone this is by far our largest customer base. Few of
these schools have computers at all and fewer still have working computers with
educational software. Rarer still is any kind of technical support. That's where
our mentors come in.
• Jovenes Adelante provides scholarships
in the form of monthly stipends to college students who, without this support
would not be able to attend a university. The parents, many with only a 4th or
5th grade education, are making a huge sacrifice for their kids. CPJ is committed
to seeing that all of these scholarship recipients have computers so they can
successfully compete with students from more affluent families.
• Patronato Pro Niños provides
medical and dental care to thousands of youngsters every year. When they identify
kids with on going problems that prevent regular school attendance we try to
step in and provide computers. We have a long way to go here.
• Centro
de Crecimiento serves a large population of kids and young adults with
serious developmental limitations. We have provided them with donated office
equipment as well as computers for individuals.
• Ignacio Ramirez School serves youngsters
with serious developmental disabilities who can benefit from a class room setting.
We have just begun to help out here and need to do a lot more.
• Our three orphanages: Sollano orphanage
for girls, Mexiquito orphanage for boys and Santa Julia orphanage for girls all
do a great job with their young charges. All three now have computers available
to their boys and girls. We help maintain these computers and provide classes
for the staff and youngsters as well.
